The Zion Lodge

The best place to enjoy a stay in the park is Zion Lodge. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, built in the 1920s, the lodge was restored to its original classic appearance in 1990. It’s also the only lodge that’s actually inside the park.

The Rooms

Most of the hotel rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds, full bath and private porch or balcony, and are within walking distance to trails and main lodge.

Gift shop, 24-hour front desk reception, immediate access to hiking trails and nature preserves, horseback riding tours, bike rentals, and tours of the parks can be arranged.

The Red Rock Grill dining room is open daily, year-round, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended in the evenings.

One park amid the impressive collection of National Parks and National Monuments in southern Utah shines above all others.

This national treasure is Zion National Park, where abundant beauty stops visitors in their tracks and leaving them gaping in awe. The crushing violence of Mother Nature has created perfection in the heart of Utah’s Color Country, where years of raging storms have pit water and winter’s ice and snow against rock, producing wondrous creations which are now protected by the national service and kept pris- tine for all the world to enjoy.

Zion National Park is an all season park and without a doubt, the crowning glory of Utah.

In spite of its name, Bryce Canyon is not a canyon, but a giant natural amphitheatre full of Hoodoos - pillars of rock formed by wind, water, and ice erosion.

There is no place quite like Bryce Canyon. Descriptions fail to capture its beauty - is it a cave without a roof, or a forest of stone? It is a stunning place that won’t fail to fascinate.

The park’s main road leads past the expansive Bryce Amphitheater, the hoodoo-filled depression lying below the Rim Trail hiking path. It has overlooks at Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point and Bryce Point. Prime viewing times are around sunup and sundown.

Moab, Utah, is smack in the middle of Arches, Canyonlands and a hundred other sandstone adventures. The red rock landscape at Arches might feel timeless, dream-like, or even other-worldly.

Behind the Arches National Park visitor center, craggy sandstone rises like a castle’s curtain wall between towers and turrets. The 40-mile scenic drive climbs high onto the plateau and crosses a vast and glorious landscape of panoramic views with distant snowcapped mountains.

At sunset, you’ll swear photographers coined “magic hour” here as the red rock becomes saturated with the radiance of the sun. At sunrise, rays of light break over dramatic horizons.

MONUMENT VALLEY (Day Trip - 13 Aug)

One of the grandest – and most photographed – landmarks in the United States, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is a sprawling, sandy preserve that spans the border between Arizona and Utah, bathing the region in rich red hues.

Dominated by crimson mesas and surreal sandstone towers – some as tall as 1,000 feet – the area is also known for dramatic, mesmerizing lighting, with the sun illuminating the towers and casting long shadows on the valley floor.

The park, frequently a filming location for Western movies, is accessed by the looping, 17-mile Valley Drive.

A scenic natural preserve with more than a million acres of both water & land-based activities. And few people know, this massive landscape is actually an artificial lake.

This is the ultimate destination for houseboating, lodging, and camping/RV vacations. Lake Powell is arguably the most scenic lake in America, situated in some of Southern Utah’s finest red-rock desert country.

Lake Powell was created in 1963 when the Glen Canyon Dam held back the waters of the Colorado River, forming a vast blue lake surrounded by beautiful sandstone walls.

Remarkably, it took 17 years for the lake to fill the canyon to the high water mark (3700’ above sea level), giving America its second largest man-made lake - and a playground like no place else on earth.
